Global Threads Quarantine Check In: April Edition

Working From Home Becoming The Norm:

Since the Covid-19 Pandemic started, most of us have been working from home for our respective companies and businesses. However, a good amount of us do not have that luxury, especially Healthcare workers and essential workers during this pressing time. We want to extend a HUGE thank you to all the healthcare and essential workers that are continuing to serve us and risking their health for the greater good.

Working from Home:

If you, like myself, find yourself working from home you are probably struggling with the work/home life balance. This is completely normal considering this pandemic has forced everyone to change their normal routine from not (typically) going into the office, shopping for groceries, and any other activities. The most important thing to remember is to find the balance between your home life and the work life. For example, if you want to be really productive it is not the best thing to work from your bed.

  1. Your Bed Should Be Your Sanctuary, NOT Office

There have been many articles and research notes advising to not work from your bed. It is important to make your bed the place that you go to every night to wind down from the day, and most importantly sleep. Making this your workspace as well as your sleeping place is not the best for your sleeping schedule. It has been proven that your night’s sleep will suffer and it will not be the place of relaxation anymore, rather it will be a place of production. This triggers your brain to not relax when you’re in bed about to sleep, but start thinking about work and ideas.

  2. Pajamas Should Be For Bed, NOT Work

We all know that feeling when you wake up in the morning, there is an urge to just stay in bed and put off doing anything productive for the day. I can tell you, the minute I get up out of bed and put on new clothes for the day, that instantly makes me more motivated to get work done and be productive. Now let’s flip it, if I were to wake up from my second alarm in the morning and just continue to lay there and not even try to get up and get dressed, my day is already made: unproductive and tired. If I were to walk around my house and try to work from home at my desk in my pajamas, let me tell you there is no work ‘really’ getting done because I’m still in sleep mode.

  3. Make an Actual Space in Your Home to Work

It is so beneficial to create a space for yourself that you can do work in. Yes, it is difficult in these pressing times to not go into the office and complete your normal work load, business as usual. Now you, if you are able to, are working from home and you’re trying to get acclimated to this new way of life. Having a desk, or table, or something to complete your work on will definitely help your workflow. However, staying in your bed with the mentality: “I’ll get my work done, I’m comfortable wrapped up in my blankets, I’m all good.” will result in you either falling asleep during work, getting frequently distracted, or later on getting bad sleep as a result of working from your bed.

What’s the best attire to wear working from home?

Let’s be real, you’re most likely not going into the office anymore (at least temporarily, we hope) so there is no need to fully dress in normal office attire. This gives you the freedom in your wardrobe to wear whatever you want without restrictions. We are here to help choose for you!

Our first pick for ‘What To Wear While Working At
Home’ is the PCH Pull Over Hoodie
